This document was developed in conjunction with the 75th Ranger Regiment.
This book serves as an additional resource for combat marksmanship training. It is intended to be a more user-friendly supplement to current Army doctrine: FM 3-22.9 Rifle Marksmanship Training, TC 3-22.9 Rifle and Carbine, and TC 3-33.25 Pistol. It is grounded in doctrine and the 75th Ranger Regiment’s marksmanship program. This book provides a comprehensive approach to training the skills required to win in a gunfight. The book covers the art and science of combat marksmanship and how to train combat marksmanship. The second half provides drills that will help tactical leaders in the field assess a shooter’s ability to apply the marksmanship fundamentals across a variety of conditions, situations, and circumstances.
The easy-to-understand drills clearly articulate what skill is being trained, recommended target layout, ammunition requirements, how to execute the course of fire, and recommended standards of performance. These drills serve as a baseline and can be adjusted to meet range limitations or scaled to the shooter’s ability level.
