JP 3-34 Joint Engineer Operations provides fundamental principles and guidance for the command and control, planning, execution, and assessment of joint engineer operations.
Joint engineer operations employ operational engineer capabilities to facilitate the mobility and survivability of friendly forces; counter the mobility of enemy forces; provide infrastructure to position, project, protect, and sustain the joint force; contribute to a clear understanding of the physical environment; and provide support to civilian authorities and partner nations. Operational engineer capabilities are categorized into combat engineering, general engineering, and geospatial engineering functions and help joint force commanders (JFCs) integrate, synchronize, and direct engineer operations.
