What is a Logistics Platoon Leader?

A logistics platoon leader tactically employs their platoons, attains proficiency in their branch functions, executes the orders process utilizing troop leading procedures, and leverages teams and squads to accomplish tasks.

ATP 4-90.5 provides logistics platoon leaders with doctrine information to create a knowledge baseline. This baseline is an understanding of what a logistics platoon leader must know and do to effectively command and control the platoon. This ATP provides a start point from which a platoon leader can subsequently apply personal experience and professional judgment to adapt to various operational environments and situations.

The principal audience for ATP 4-90.5 is logistics platoon leaders in all three logistics proponencies; ordnance, quartermaster, and transportation. It is intentionally general to allow application to the wide variety of logistics platoons. The ATP is also applicable to other members of the profession of arms. Trainers and educators throughout the Army will also use this publication.
