ATP 3-04.1 provides techniques for planning, preparation, and execution of aviation tasks. It provides problem-solving guidance for company-level leaders throughout Army Aviation as they plan, prepare, execute, and assess these tasks. It also provides considerations for expeditionary aviation operations.
The primary audience for ATP 3-04.1 is junior leaders at brigade level and below, but it is also applicable to other members of the profession of arms. Trainers and educators throughout the Army Aviation branch also use this publication.
ATP 3-04.1 applies to the Active Army, Army National Guard/Army National Guard of the United States and United States Army Reserve unless otherwise stated.

It is the primary reference publication for aviation leaders and planners and describes best-practice techniques for aviation operations.
