ATP 3-01.18 provides guidance for Stinger team employment techniques supporting air defense operations. Its focus is to build a proficient Stinger team enabling them to accomplish their assigned missions. The effectiveness of Stinger varies directly with the individual skills of each team member and their collective proficiency. This manual provides the non-prescriptive ways or methods used by the Stinger team to engage and destroy hostile air threats.
ATP 3-01.18 contains five chapters and a supporting appendix that includes employment, detection, identification, and engagement techniques. The chapters are:
