FM 6-02 is the highest-level signal doctrine manual. It describes how signal Soldiers support Army forces as they shape operational environments, prevent conflict, conduct large-scale combat operations, and consolidate gains against a peer threat in joint operations.
Command and control is fundamental to joint and Army operations. Command and control is the exercise of authority and direction by a properly designated commander over assigned and attached forces in the accomplishment of a mission.
FM 6-02 is applicable to all members of the Army Profession—leaders, Soldiers, and Army civilians. The principal audience for FM 6-02 is Army commanders, leaders, staffs, and signal Soldiers. Trainers and educators throughout the Army also use this publication.
